Gate Approvals
How to request and process gate approvals for initiatives.
A gate is a governance checkpoint where an initiative is reviewed before it is approved to proceed. In StartConsole, the gate approval process is triggered when an initiative is set to the Proposed status. Approvers review the initiative's business case and make a go/no-go decision in the Gate Reviews screen.
Submitting an initiative for approval
- 1
Create the initiative
Create the initiative with all required fields filled in. Before submitting for approval, ensure the business case fields are complete: expected value, allocated budget, and a clear description of the problem and proposed solution. Approvers will review this information.
- 2
Set the status to Proposed
Open the initiative detail view. Click the Status field and select Proposed. Save. The initiative is now queued for gate review.
- 3
Notify approvers (optional)
StartConsole sends a notification to members with the Approver role when a new Proposed initiative enters the queue. If you need a faster review, you can message the approver directly and reference the initiative by name.
