Notifications
Reference for the notification system in StartConsole.
Notifications in StartConsole alert you to events that require your attention — a signal raised on an initiative you own, a gate decision on an initiative you submitted, a deliverable deadline approaching, or a mention from a colleague. Notifications arrive both in-app and by email.
What triggers notifications
Notifications are triggered by specific events in the system. The events that generate notifications are:
| Event | Who is notified |
|---|---|
| Signal raised on an initiative | The initiative owner. Also notifies any user who has starred or is watching the initiative. |
| Gate approval result | The initiative owner is notified when an Approver records an Approved or Rejected decision on their gate submission. |
| Gate review requested | The assigned Approver is notified when an initiative is submitted (status set to Proposed) and a gate review is triggered. |
| Deliverable deadline approaching | The deliverable owner is notified in advance of the due date. |
| Deliverable marked Blocked | The initiative owner is notified when a deliverable on their initiative is marked Blocked. |
| Mention | Any user mentioned in a comment or decision note using @username is notified. |
| Member invitation | The invited user receives an email with their invitation link. |
Where notifications appear
In-app notifications — click the bell icon in the top navigation bar to open the notification panel. The bell shows a count badge when you have unread notifications. Each notification in the panel includes the event type, the relevant initiative or object name, and the time it was triggered. Click any notification to navigate directly to the relevant record.
Email notifications — a notification email is sent to your registered email address for each event. Email notifications include the same information as in-app notifications, plus a direct link to the relevant record in StartConsole.
Email notifications are sent from a StartConsole system address. Add this address to your allowlist to prevent notifications from being filtered to spam. Check with your Admin if you are not receiving email notifications — they can verify your email address is confirmed in your account settings.
