Welcome to the Guide
What this guide covers and how to navigate it.
This guide is a practical manual for using StartConsole. It covers every screen, every action, and every workflow you will encounter as you run strategic execution across your organization. It is not a methodology primer — if you want to understand why strategic pillars or OKRs matter, visit /execution-os. This guide assumes you are here to get things done.
How the guide is structured
The guide is divided into eight sections, each covering a distinct phase of working in StartConsole:
- Getting Started — onboarding, quick start, and running your first Steering Committee meeting
- Foundation — setting up your pillars, themes, OKRs, and initiatives
- Execution — managing the lifecycle of initiatives, gate approvals, capacity, and budget
- Signals — reading and acting on portfolio health signals
- Roadmap — using the roadmap view to track time-based delivery
- Collaboration — decisions, comments, and working with your team
- Reporting — exporting data, generating board-ready snapshots, and sharing views
- Settings — managing your organization, members, roles, and billing
How to navigate
Use the sidebar on the left to move between sections and chapters. The sidebar reflects the order in which most teams encounter features — working top to bottom is a reasonable path for new users. If you are returning to find a specific topic, the section headings are self-explanatory and you can jump directly.
The search bar at the top of the sidebar searches across all guide chapters. Type any feature name or action (e.g. "gate approval", "capacity", "export") to jump straight to the relevant chapter.
Who each section is for
| Section | Primary audience |
|---|---|
| Getting Started | Everyone — read this first |
| Foundation | Strategy leads and org admins setting up the workspace |
| Execution | Initiative owners and squad leads managing active work |
| Signals | Portfolio managers and SteerCo members monitoring health |
