Setting Up Themes
How to create themes and group initiatives under them.
Themes are optional groupings that sit below pillars. Where a pillar represents a broad strategic category, a theme represents a specific focus area or initiative cluster within that category. Themes appear as colour-coded labels on initiative cards and can be used to filter the roadmap and portfolio views.
Creating a theme
- 1
Navigate to the Themes tab
Go to Initiatives in the left sidebar. Click the Themes tab at the top of the Initiatives page. You will see all existing themes listed, or an empty state.
- 2
Click Add Theme
Click the Add Theme button in the top-right corner.
- 3
Enter the theme name and colour
In the dialog, enter a Name for the theme (e.g. 'AI & Automation', 'Customer Retention', 'Infrastructure Modernisation'). Then click a colour from the colour palette — this colour will appear as the theme label on initiative cards throughout the product. Click Save.
Use colours consistently across themes. For example, assign warmer colours to customer-facing themes and cooler colours to internal or infrastructure themes so SteerCo audiences can read portfolio views at a glance.
