Signal History
How to view how signals have changed over time for an initiative.
Signal history lets you trace how an initiative's health has evolved — when problems first appeared, whether they were resolved, and whether conditions have improved or worsened over successive review cycles. This is particularly useful before a SteerCo or gate review, when you need to demonstrate a pattern of progress rather than just a snapshot.
Viewing signal history from an initiative
- Open the initiative you want to review.
- Click the Signals tab on the initiative detail page.
- The signal history table shows a chronological log of every signal event for this initiative: when each flag was first raised, when (and if) it was resolved, and what change in the initiative's data triggered it.
Each row includes:
- Flag category — the type of condition that triggered the signal
- Severity at the time — Watch, At Risk, or Critical
- Date raised — when StartConsole first detected the condition
- Date resolved — when the condition cleared, or blank if still active
- Trigger — a short description of what changed to cause the flag
Use this timeline to understand whether an initiative is improving, stable, or deteriorating over time.
Viewing signal history from the Signals page
You can also access historical signal data from the main Signals page without navigating to an individual initiative:
- Open the Signals page from the sidebar.
- Use the filter bar to select a specific initiative.
- Enable the History toggle in the top-right of the filter bar.
The view switches from showing only active signals to showing the full signal log for the selected initiative, including resolved flags.
Using signal history in reviews
When preparing for a gate review or executive presentation, use the signal history to show the trajectory of a flagged initiative. An initiative that had three At Risk signals two months ago and now has none tells a different story than one that has accumulated signals continuously. Signal history provides the evidence for that narrative.
