Goals (OKRs)
Complete reference for Objectives and Key Results in StartConsole.
Goals in StartConsole are structured as OKRs — Objectives and Key Results. An Objective is a qualitative statement of what you are trying to achieve. Key Results are the measurable evidence that the objective is being achieved. Together, they form the goal layer of the StartConsole hierarchy, sitting between strategic pillars and operational initiatives.
Objectives
An Objective is a statement of strategic direction for a defined period — typically a quarter. Objectives are aspirational, concise, and qualitative.
Objective fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | The objective statement. Maximum 200 characters. Write it as an aspirational outcome, not a task. |
| Owner | The person accountable for this objective. A single user from your organisation. |
| Pillar | The strategic pillar this objective supports. Required. Used for filtering and alignment reporting. |
| Quarter | The time period this objective targets. Format: Q1 2025, Q2 2025, etc. Used to filter objectives by planning period. |
| Status | The current operational state of the objective. Options: On Track, At Risk, Off Track, Completed, Cancelled. Updated manually by the owner. |
| Description | Optional. Additional context about what success looks like or why this objective matters. Maximum 1000 characters. |
RAG status on objectives
Each objective shows a RAG indicator — Green, Amber, or Red — derived from the aggregate performance of its key results. This is a system-calculated indicator, not a manual field. The indicator reflects how the objective's key results are collectively performing against their targets. Green indicates the objective is on track; Amber indicates at least one key result is showing strain; Red indicates the objective is significantly off track based on the evidence in the key results.
Key Results
A Key Result is a measurable, time-bound metric that tracks progress toward an objective. Key Results have a type that determines how progress is measured.
Key Result types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Numeric | Tracks progress toward a numeric target — e.g. revenue, users, count, percentage. Progress is measured by updating the Current Actual field. |
| Milestone | Tracks the completion of a specific deliverable or event — e.g. "Launch partner programme". Progress is either Not Started, In Progress, or Done. |
| Progress | Tracks completion as a percentage from 0–100%. Use when the output is continuous and a numeric target is not the right measure. |
