Logging Portfolio Decisions
How to record decisions made in meetings directly in StartConsole.
Every significant portfolio decision — to pause an initiative, approve additional budget, change an owner, or adjust a delivery date — should be recorded in StartConsole. This creates an auditable record that leadership can reference during reviews and that prevents the same question from being relitigated in future meetings.

Navigate to Decisions
Click Decisions in the left sidebar. This page lists all decisions logged in your organisation, ordered by date.

Click New Decision
Click the New Decision button in the top-right corner. A modal form opens.

Enter the title, context, and outcome
Title: state clearly what was decided (e.g. 'Pause Initiative X until Q3'). Context: explain briefly why the decision was made — what information or constraint drove it. Outcome: describe what will happen as a result of this decision.

Link to the relevant initiative
Use the Initiative field to link this decision to an initiative. This is optional, but linking ensures the decision appears in the initiative's audit trail, making it easy to find later.
